Family Treasures

A few weeks ago we got a package in the mail full of wonderful teacups.
My kids were happy to choose which one would be theirs.
The bottom two are Ike and Kitty's choices and today they got to enjoy chocolate milk in them.
I'm  not sure why, but having their drinks from these made them ridiculously joyful.
Life is beautiful . . . especially with kids.

Over "tea" Kate and Ike discussed the new book they (meaning Isaac really) were writing. Here's a sneak peek at the first page:

Kate's Space

Kitty's room is a bit crowded, but it's a happy place where her imagination runs wild.

(She was using the missing pillow when I took this picture.)

Lovely Linens

My Grandmother gave me her china cabinet several years ago.
When she gave it to me, she had one condition.
I had to take everything that was inside.
No problem with that here.
Today I was searching through for a tablecloth and caught a glimse of this lovely little treasure:
It's perfect . . .
Perfect for my dear Kitty's room.
Thanks, Grandma.

Crusty Bread

This bread is crusty on the outside and thick and soft on the inside. GREAT for serving with soup.
This one is a keeper for sure.

Healing Salve

I've been enjoying things on Pinterest. Yesterday I made two batches of healing salve. We go through it quickly. It smells amazing, the kids love to use it, and the dog tries to eat it. I think we'll make this for many years to come.

And just to be honest, here's what happens to my home while I'm trying to make things on Pinterest. Yikes.

A Project

My Love and I got to go out on a date the other night (Thanks, Mom!) and we picked up this frame at an antique store. It's a bit dirty and a little dented, but I have a plan. . .

Kitchen Help

A Bedroom Tour

Paint color: Comfort Gray from Sherwin Williams.
I couldn't find tan, cabana stripe curtains anywhere. So I bought some plain white curtains and painted them with 12" stripes. I used the leftover paint from the hallway so the rooms actually flow really well.
My Mom had the rocking chair redone for Isaac's nursery. It's the same chair my Mom rocked me in many years ago.
Wardrobe was a nice touch to a vintage boys room. I'm not sure if it will stay there. I have white vintage lockers that I think might go well in this space!
This pillow is made out of duck canvas. I sketched out the owl and embroidered it. My talented mother turned it into an actual pillow cover. My favorite place to get pillow inserts is at Pottery Barn. I think they are around $15 for a feather insert.
Pier 1 gets credit for having the color of pillows I wanted. Indoor/Outdoor pillows are great and sturdy for little boys.
No matter how I decorate the room, someone always adds a nice touch. This is a Transformer poster made by my sweet Isaac.
Isaac painted the pictures when he was under two. The train pictures came from an antique store. The chinese checker board was given to me by my Grandmother June.
Flannel sheets are from Costco. $12.99 for a set!
Noah's stack of baby blankets, all made by my Mom.
I love wooden crates for storage.
My Great Grandfather Daniel was an electrician. This fan belonged to him.
I got this dresser from a friend of my Mom's. It was covered in stickers when we got it. My Mom refinished it for me when I was pregnant with Isaac.
Sweet little boy was a gift from God!
